The Frescobaldi family has been producing wines for more than 30 generations. The family’s start in wine production is documented at the beginning of the year 1300 at the historic Tenuta di Castiglioni, southwest of Florence. To drink a Frescobaldi wine is to experience the history of Florence, from the Middle Ages to the present day- an incredible time span that includes wine sales to Kings Edward I and II in the 14th century and the trading of wine for art with renowned Renaissance artists in the 16th century.
From the beginning, the family demanded that their wines be of the highest quality and that they reflect the uniqueness of each terroir. The estates of the Marchesi de’Frescobaldi are situated in some of the most highly praised and famous areas of Tuscany: from Chianti Rufina to Montalcino, from Pomino to Colli Fiorentini of Montespertoli, from Bolgheri to Scansano and Magliano in Maremma. Each estate operates independently with the goal of making wine that best expresses the site from which it originates.
In addition to their respect for terroir, the Frescobaldi family strives to embrace research and experimentation. The family continually works to upgrade its extensive vineyard holdings while producing wines that reflect a balanced combination of tradition and innovation. The resulting wines are unique and true to their site, reflecting the rich diversity of Tuscan wine.
